On behalf of the Australian
Society of Hypnosis Victorian Branch Inc, we welcome your
attendance and participation at the
37th
Congress and Workshops
to be held in:
Darwin,
Northern Australia
28 September – 4 October
2007
The Organising
Committee decided to hold the 2007 Congress and Workshops in
Darwin for two reasons. First, to provide you with a
stimulating, interactive and educational experience in clinical
hypnosis and second, to give you the opportunity to enjoy the
scenic wonders of our Northern Territory.

THE DESTINATION
Although
distant from our capital cities, Darwin is easily accessible by
air, with daily flights by Qantas, Jetstar or Virgin Blue. For
those with the time, you could experience the Red Centre,
travelling by the new Ghan from Adelaide to Darwin, via Alice
Springs and Katherine.
We have
forged a strong relationship with Territory Discoveries, who
will be able to provide you with information about flights,
accommodations, and tourism opportunities for the Northern
Territory. When you decide what you want, they will be able to
make all bookings for you.
THE VENUES
The venues
for the Congress have been carefully chosen to enable you to
experience 4-star comfort, yet in the “frontier” environment of
Darwin and Kakadu National Park.
The Novotel
Atrium Darwin is a modern hotel, close to the heart of Darwin.
It is only minutes from a range of restaurants, shopping centres
and tourism activities within Darwin city.
The Aurora
Kakadu is situated a two-hour drive from Darwin, at the entrance
to the Kakadu National Park. Both hotels have air-conditioned
rooms and swimming pools.
There is a
range of accommodation options nearby to the Novotel Atrium
Hotel.
THE CLIMATE
The Top End
has two distinct seasons – the Wet and the Dry.
May to
September is the long period known as the Dry season and is the
most popular time of the year with visitors and locals.
The humidity is at its lowest and the nights can become
relatively cool. Average temperatures in September are 23.1
– 32.6 degrees, with an average of 2 days of rain.
October to
December is the pre-monsoon period and, as the period progresses
it becomes increasingly humid with occasional rain. However, the
commencement of the pre-monsoon period is occurring later over
the past several years. I was in Darwin 26-28 October this year
and found the weather pleasantly dry.
As the
Congress dates are 28 September – 4 October 2007, you can expect
warm to hot but dry weather – perfect for tourism.
THE PROGRAMME
The Congress
Programme has been designed to ensure that you have every
opportunity to participate in each hypnosis workshop and
scientific session, so that you do not have to choose which
activity to attend. The Programme also has times set aside for
tourism activities in Darwin, the surrounding areas and Kakadu
National Park.
